Welcome to Mr. Mitchell's Teacher Page

Hello! My name is Damion Mitchell.  I have been teaching 2nd grade for more than a decade in SLZUSD and Oakland Unified.  I am originally from Portland, OR.  I am the oldest of 5 kids.  I moved to California in 2004 and attended graduate school at Mills College, earning my Master’s Degree.  When I’m not at school, I enjoy playing soccer and going on adventures with my son, Emerson.  I enjoy traveling.  I have been to Europe several times, Mexico, Canada, and SE Asia.

Inspired by
What inspires me are the students and their openness, curiosity, and humor. Colleagues that are open, thoughtful, and strive towards learning are also inspiring.

District Tools I Use 

Attendance  
I take attendance using Aeries. You can stay on top of attendance through the Aeries Family Portal or Aeries App

Report Cards 
I use Aeries to generate report cards. Families can view report cards through the Aeries Family Portal.

Gradebook  
I have not started to use the Aeries Standards-based Gradebook, but will update my Teacher Page when I begin using it.  If you are subscribed to this page, you will be notified via email.

Sangha Interactive App
