Commitment to Safety and Support for All Families

Dear San Lorenzo Unified School District families,

According to media reports, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has increased its presence in the Bay Area. We know this may cause concern or anxiety for some students' families, and we want to assure you that our District remains committed to the safety and well-being of all students and families.

SLZUSD strives to create a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of immigration status. In 2017, our Board of Education adopted Safe Haven Resolution No. 3505, reaffirming our district’s commitment to protecting the rights and educational opportunities of every student.

Please know that:

  • District staff do not share student or family information with immigration officials unless required by law through a valid judicial warrant or court order.
  • Immigration officials are not allowed access to students or school campuses during the school day without proper legal authorization.
  • Our top priority is to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Additional information and resources are also available on our District website to help families stay informed.

Thank you for your desire to support a safe learning environment for each and every student. We consider the diversity of our families to be one of our District's greatest strengths, and we remain dedicated to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment within all of our schools.

Cordially,

Daryl Camp, Ed.D.
