Welcome to Ms. Smith's Teacher Page
Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, I was heavily influenced by the influx of cultures flowing throughout the city. Seeing how music was used as a bridge to connect the diverse communities together impacted my outlook on the importance of music and the differences it can make in people and communities. Today, I am a conductor, a song-writer, an arranger, a promoter of community music and an elementary music teacher. But most importantly, I am dedicated to putting the students first by using music as a source of community and self-expression.
"The language of music is common to all generations and nations; it is understood by everybody, since it is understood with the heart." - Gioacchino Rossini
